Why 3-Bet Pots Deserve Their Own Review Session

Most ClubGG players review hands randomly — a weird river here, a bad beat there. That's fine for entertainment, but it won't fix a leak that's bleeding you money every single session. If you want a repeatable study routine, start with 3-bet pots. They're high variance, they happen often enough to generate real sample size within a few weeks of grinding, and they're where most mid-stakes players lose their win rate without realizing it.

Step 1: Isolate the Population

Open your database and filter for hands where you either made a 3-bet preflop or faced one. Split these into two buckets:

• Hands where you 3-bet
• Hands where you faced a 3-bet

Don't mix them. The leaks in each bucket are completely different, and lumping them together just muddies your read.

Step 2: Check Your Fold-to-3-Bet Number First

If you're folding to 3-bets north of 65-70% as a general population number (not counting short-stack shoves), that's usually the first leak worth chasing down. It means either:

• Your opening range is too wide for the seats you're opening from, or
• You're over-folding postflop after getting 3-bet with hands that actually have enough equity or fold equity to continue

Filter specifically for hands where you opened, got 3-bet, and folded. Sort by position. A pattern usually jumps out fast — folding too much from the cutoff or button when a tight regular wakes up with a 3-bet is one of the most common and most fixable leaks in club-app pools.

Step 3: Look at Your Own 3-Bet Bucket for Value vs. Bluff Balance

Now flip to the hands where you 3-bet. Break this down further by whether you were in position or out of position, and whether you 3-bet for value or as a bluff/light 3-bet. If DriveHUD shows your 3-bet hands going to showdown with a win rate that's noticeably below your overall showdown win rate, it's worth reviewing hand-by-hand whether your bluffing frequency in that spot is too high for the players you're up against — recreational-heavy ClubGG tables often just don't fold enough to make light 3-betting profitable at the volume some regs use it.

Step 4: Segment by Stake and Table Type

One mistake players make when reviewing 3-bet stats is treating every table the same. A 3-bet strategy that prints against loose ClubGG micro-stakes tables can lose money at higher stakes where opponents actually fold correctly. Filter your 3-bet pots by stake level if you play more than one, and compare the results side by side. If your win rate in 3-bet pots drops as stakes increase, that's a signal your bluffing frequency needs to shrink as your competition gets tighter.

Step 5: Pull 10-15 Hands and Actually Replay Them

Stats tell you where to look, not what's wrong. Once you've identified the weak bucket — say, folding too much to 3-bets from the button — pull 10 to 15 of the actual hands and replay them. Look at bet sizing, stack depth, and the specific opponent. Often you'll find you're folding fine against one aggressive regular but bleeding chips folding to the exact same sizing from a player who 3-bets much wider than that.

Building This Into a Weekly Routine

A single hand doesn't mean anything. A single session barely does. But if you set aside 20 minutes once a week to run this same four-step filter — isolate, check fold-to-3-bet, check your own 3-bet win rate, segment by stake — you'll catch leaks while they're still small instead of after they've cost you a full buy-in a week for months.
