Build a 15-Minute Weekly Session Review Routine in DriveHUD
Most club-app grinders open their tracking software once a week — usually to check if they're up or down — and close it again without learning anything. That's a missed opportunity. The real value of tracking isn't the number at the bottom of the graph; it's the patterns hiding in the hands behind it. Here's a simple, repeatable weekly routine you can run in about 15 minutes that will teach you more about your game than another 10,000 hands on autopilot.
Step 1: Set the date range and isolate the sample
Start by filtering your database to the last 7 days (or your last full week of volume). Don't review everything at once — a focused, recent sample is easier to act on because the mistakes are still fresh and the habits are current. If you play both ClubGG and ClubWPT Gold, filter by site separately at least once a month. Pool sizes, field tendencies, and your own adjustments can differ between apps, and lumping them together can hide a leak that's specific to one room.
Step 2: Check the graph shape, not just the total
Look at the shape of your win-rate graph before you look at the number. A smooth upward line with small dips is very different from one big heater carrying three losing weeks. If most of your winnings came from one session, your "real" win rate for the other sessions is lower than your headline stat suggests — and that gap is worth investigating.
Step 3: Pull your positional stats
Open the positional report and compare your win rate and VPIP/PFR by seat. Two things to look for:
- A seat where your win rate is noticeably negative while every other position is positive. That's almost always a range or postflop issue specific to that position, not bad luck.
- A seat where your VPIP is nearly identical to your PFR in late position. That usually means you're limping or over-flatting hands that should be raised or folded.
Step 4: Scan showdown hands for the biggest pots
Sort your sample by pot size and open the five to ten biggest pots you played, win or lose. This is where real money is made and lost, and it's the fastest way to find a leak because the stakes make the mistake obvious. Ask yourself on each one: did I have a clear plan on the turn, or did I just call because the pot was already big?
Step 5: Flag three hands and write one sentence each
Pick three hands from the week — not necessarily the biggest losses, just the ones that felt uncertain while you were playing them — and write a single sentence note on each: what you did, and what the alternative line would have been. You don't need a full study session. The goal is to build a small, searchable library of decisions so that in a month you can filter by your own notes and see if the same spot keeps showing up.
Step 6: Track one number over time
Pick a single stat to watch across weeks — a non-showdown win rate, a specific positional win rate, or something as simple as average pot size won versus lost. Watching one number move over several weeks tells you whether a fix is actually working, which is more useful than staring at the overall graph and guessing.
Why this matters more on ClubWPT Gold
Because ClubWPT Gold doesn't allow an on-screen HUD, you don't get real-time stat pop-ups to lean on during a session. That makes the after-the-fact database review even more important — it's effectively your HUD, just reviewed between sessions instead of during them. Players who treat their ClubWPT Gold tracker database as a study tool tend to close that gap faster than players who only glance at results. The same weekly habit works for a ClubGG tracker setup too, since both apps feed into the same DriveHUD database once imported.
If you haven't set up automatic imports yet, the setup guide walks through connecting both apps so this routine takes minutes instead of becoming a chore. Fifteen focused minutes a week, done consistently, will surface more leaks than months of passive volume ever will.
